Hand Made Christmas Gift Idea: Homemade Bath Cookies

These spa type cookies for the bath are easy to make but so fun to give!

((Remember--these 'cookies' are for the bath, not to be eaten-- so it may be wise to keep them away from little ones!))


2 cups finely ground sea salt
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 tbsp light oil
1 tsp vitamin E oil
2 eggs
5-6 drops essential oil of your choice

To Make:

Preheat your oven to 350 F. Combine all the listed ingredients and form into a dough. Using a teaspoon or so of dough at a time, roll it gently in the palm of your hand until it forms a ball. Form all dough into one teaspoon balls, and gently place them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Consider sprinkling the bath balls with herbs, flower petals, cloves, citrus zest and similar aromatic ingredients. Bake your bath cookies for ten minutes, until they are lightly browned. Spending more money than you have is not a great way to spend the holidays or start the new year. Here are a few frugal holiday ideas from decorating to gifting that can help save money this Christmas season:

1. Holiday Decoration Easy and Cheap:  Fill a glass bowl with glass ball ornaments. Try using all the same colors or mix them up! Just keep this decoration away from little hands--place on a table or high shelf.

2.  Use pinecones to fill baskets, bowls and vases. If you like, spray them with gold and silver spray paint as well.

3.  Visit your library and borrow Christmas books and magazines--place in baskets by couches and/or stack them on coffee tables.

4. Bake and decorate sugar cookies. Get some inexpensive tea cups and coffee mugs and fill with cookies. Wrap with a pretty ribbon and some cellophane for an inexpensive gift from the heart.
