A Few Quick Household Tips That Can Save Time and Money

In the market for a few extra household tips that can save you some time and money? Here are a few tips for you to try( if you haven't already, that is!)

Tip One:
For pans with stubborn stuck on food (please tell me I am not the only one that burns food from time to time??):

Pour some cola into the pan to cover the burned part, then put the an on the stove, and bring to a boil. Next, let the pan and cola cool, then just wash in soapy warm water. The burned food will be lifted from the surface of the pan by the phosphoric acid in the soda (makes you stop and think, doesn't it?) Just rinse and your pan will be good as new (well, almost.)

Tip Two:
Getting Rid of underarm stains.

White t-shirts and underarm stains simply don't look good together. To get rid of those stains, try some aspirin. Dissolve 8-10 aspirin in warm water, then soak the underarm of the shirt in the solution for about 30 minutes. Wash the shirt after that as normal, and the stain should disappear.

Tip Three:

Save Money Using Banana Peels

Try some of these tips and tricks around the house using banana peels. You might save some money by not running out and buying products at the store.

For Scrapes and Skinned Knees: The oil in banana skin will soothe and promote healing.

For Plant Fertilizer and Nutrient: Let a  banana peel air dry, then crumble the dried banana peel and place it in a paper bag. Let the banana peel sit at room temperature for about two days.  Mix well in the soil around plants to give them an extra potassium boost!

Polish Your Silver: Put banana peels in a blender and blend till they are a creamy mixture. Then, polish your silver with the mixture and smile at the shine!

Polish Your Shoes: Rub the inside of the banana peel around your leather shoes to give them a shine. Wipe and buff with a soft cloth for a perfect shoe shine. The inside of banana peels have oil and potassium..two things found in most commercial shoe polish that you would buy at the store, minus the chemicals. So you save money and go green…

Getting a Tax Refund?

If you are one of the lucky people getting a tax refund this year, congratulations! When that check comes in the mail, think carefully before spending it.

If you are not sure what to do with that refund, why not start an emergency savings fund with the money? Or add to one you have already started.

An emergency fund may not seem like a fun way to spend your heard earned refund, but it should be a top priority for everyone. Skip the splurging today, and save for tomorrow's unexpected (and often unwelcome) surprises.

And don't forget..Starbucks is giving away free coffee all day April 15th. Just bring in your own mug, and they'll fill it for you with fresh hot coffee!

6 Savings Tips For Your Next Shopping Trip

Heading to the grocery store and hoping to stay on budget? Here are a few tips to help you get what you need and not spend more than you should!

1. Forget the shopping cart. Pick up a shopping basket to help you stay on track and just get the minimum items you need.

2. Looking for a protein for your dinner meal? Skip the pricey cuts of meat and poultry, and choose a whole roasted chicken, or better yet, make a dinner with eggs as your protein! They are cheap, versatile and a great source of protein as well as vitamins A and D.

3. Bring a list and stick to it. Definitely not any new advice here, but very important to follow this rule. Why? Shoppers that spend 30 minutes or more wandering around the grocery aisles tend to spend much more than they had originally planned to. And leave with more things han they really need.
Get in and get out. Quickly.

4. Always check your basket/cart before heading to the check out. Try to pick one item that is in your shopping basket that you can do wit…

Go Green(er) For a Week and Save Some Money

Save some money this week by being a little greener and changing a couple of habits. Here are a few ideas to try as you go about your daily activities:

1. Give your dryer the week off and hang clothes to dry.

2. Turn your TV off an hour (or more) earlier than you normally do, and save electricity.
.
3. Walk where you can instead of driving this week.

4. If you are getting rain in your area this week, collect some of that water and use it for plants, garden and lawns next week.

5.Do not buy any cleaning products this week. Use vinegar and water to clean windows, tile, counters and floors. Use baking soda for bathtub cleaning.

6. Do not buy paper towels this week. Make your own cloth napkins from old clothing, towels, washcloths, etc. Throw them in with a full load for washing later and reuse next week.
